Thanks for being here as a recipient of my first newsletter! I hope it brings you joy and lightness. Below are images of art I’ve made and snippets of my life lately.
One of my paintings: A timelapse of me painting aspens with watercolors. Peep the splatter appearance at the end. I picked a painting of fall foliage for this newsletter to bring back the color of this season, although the days are darker now (and snow is on the ground in Denver - but foliage is hanging on). Here’s the final image.
A recent highlight: My show at the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center is up for the month of November. If you’re in Colorado, I’ll be there next Saturday Nov 16th from 11a-1p for a “Meet the Artist” event. I’d love to see you there! Take a day trip to hike among the beautiful rocks and peruse other Colorado Springs offerings (if you need inspiration, check out this recent NY Times 36 Hours in Colorado Springs article). Once the event wraps at 1p on the 16th I’ll be at Ivywild food and beer hall 15 mins away - which is in an old elementary school and confirmed to be very fun - please join.
A recent hike: Before the daylight savings time change, I was taking advantage of the afternoon light as much as possible by going for shorter hikes nearby after work. Tilting Mesa at Tabletop Mountain is a favorite hike in this category. An unlock for me was hiking during a full moon - it throws off so much light that it doesn’t matter if the sun goes down! A fun treat with October’s super moon was hearing a coyote howl for several minutes. The vibes were excellent.
Quote on a quilt:

Stay steady in these shaky times and feed your soul with some creativity.
Love, Christina
